Christopher M. Turtell, CPA is a Partner and Managing Director - Assurance at Herbein + Company, Inc., and is responsible for leading and overseeing the firm's Assurance practice, which is one of the firm's largest. He joined the firm in 2002, and was named to the firm partnership in 2016.

Throughout his career, Chris has specialized in serving local governments and school districts, including compliance with Uniform Grant Guidance requirements. He is responsible for over 30 audit clients including community colleges, school districts, intermediate units, and municipalities. In this role, Chris is viewed as an important advisor, responsible for coordinating financial audits as well as building and maintaining relationships with client management and governance.

Chris is a certified public accountant and a frequent speaker at the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) School District and Local Government Conferences, as well as the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials' annual conference. He also regularly helps develop and present in-house and client seminars on emerging industry issues and best practices.

Chris has embraced a leadership role on the technical side of the practice as well as in the personal development of others. Chris' commitment to client service, developing staff, and making a difference for the firm is unwavering. His expertise in quality control, client service, and team development enhances the practice's ability to meet client needs and drive future success. These qualities, as well as his commitment to work-life balance, make him a key member of the firm’s leadership team.

In his free time, you can find Chris attending his kids’ many concerts, plays/musicals, and baseball games.  He also enjoys his family trips to Disney!

FUN FACT: Chris and his wife have watched a baseball game in 24 different major league stadiums on a quest to see them all.
