Kutztown University – Senior (Accounting and Personal Finance)

I found Herbein through a school event entitled "Meet the Firms Night" at Kutztown University. After speaking to the Herbein representatives, I automatically sensed a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. I interviewed for the position in October and was accepted within a couple of days. I began training in January and was in the Allentown office 2 weeks after the new year. Immediately, the internship was much different than the others I had completed before. It was an all-encompassing experience, working with a plethora of different clients. I was able to ask many questions and gain more knowledge than I would ever gain from a classroom lecture at school. The environment at the office has been extremely welcoming and friendly. I talk to my peers and in-charges daily. We've eaten lunch together many times and share interesting stories with one another. Working throughout the week alongside classes and extra-curriculars has definitely been difficult to manage. But Herbein has been more than accommodating for me. Overall, the experience has been wonderful, and I look forward to what my future may be with the firm.

I interviewed with fifteen different companies, and Herbein was at the top of my list for where I wanted to intern. Herbein's onboarding team was encouraging and clearly laid out their expectations for the entire internship. The Allison Park office instantly welcomed me with open arms, and even as an intern, they considered me part of the team. I felt so respected and appreciated. My colleagues ate lunch with me, celebrated my birthday, added me to the March Madness bracket, and continuously pursued me to make sure I was doing well. I was terrified to start working during a busy tax season, but the team never gave up on me and kept a positive mindset which created an environment that encouraged me to ask questions, learn, work hard, and have fun.

Saint Vincent College – Junior (Accounting, minor in Data Analytics. Also pursuing a certificate in organizational leadership)

As a second-year intern, I expected my internship to be fairly similar to my first internship and in a lot of ways it was, but it was also different. This time around, I found myself tackling more challenging and complex tasks that allowed me to grow. I was able to work on partnership and S Corp tax engagements which I felt helped to continue to build my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. With more challenging tasks, it required me to ask for help and the Greensburg team was super friendly and more than willing to assist. The team created a positive, fun office environment which is my favorite thing about Herbein. To any prospective team Herbein member, know that you will be pushed and challenged to grow- but you will also be fully supported by your coworkers and leaders.

Kutztown University – Senior (Accounting, minor in Spanish)

During my internship, I was responsible for compiling and preparing tax files to be converted to support documents, and preparing 1040s. My favorite thing about interning at Herbein was everyone's kindness and willingness to help me. To any prospective team member out there, colleagues from all levels are always there to check in on you and make themselves approachable to offer advice and answer any of your questions. Herbein has such a great sense of community!
