Biography

Douglas (Doug) Kook joined Herbein as a partner in 2024, following the merger of Herbein + Company, Inc., and Bumpers & Company. Doug is driven by his desire to help clients succeed, working diligently to make an impact on their bottom line and overall financial situation. His commitment to quality, compliance, and client service, combined with his integrity and problem-solving skills, makes him a trusted leader and advisor.

A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants, Doug’s expertise lies in tax, business valuation, and exit planning, with a focus on closely held businesses. He is also a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and  NACVA, and the Exit Planning Institute (EPI).

Originally from Ohio, Doug relocated to Delaware at the age of seven, and now resides in Wilmington. He is actively involved in numerous organizations, serving as President of the Delaware State Chapter of NACVA, Treasurer of the Brandywine Hundred Rotary Club, and Treasurer of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, among others. He also partners with Widener University as a Curriculum Board Member for Accounting and Finance.

Outside Herbein, Doug is a true sports enthusiast, having played on and managed teams in adult baseball leagues, and participated in Bike to the Bay, the Philadelphia Rock N Roll Half Marathon, and the New Castle County Flag Football League. He is looking forward to sharing his love of Nolan Ryan and baseball with his sons as little league coach sometime in the future.
