"All fluid milk processors have shrinkage -- the unexplained loss of product between farm pickup and product sales. Rising milk costs in 2019 are making the cost of shrinkage higher in 2019 than in 2018. Even if you are reducing the pounds of skim and butterfat shrinkage, or at the same loss as last ear, the dollar cost is probably higher at your plant in 2019 compared to the last year."
