QuickBooks: Subscription Change Coming in July 2024

January 12, 2024

QuickBooks recently announced that it will stop selling several products to new U.S. subscribers after July 31, 2024.

The products affected by this change are:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premium Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

New subscriptions for these QuickBooks products will not be sold after July 31, 2024.

It is important to note that QuickBooks will continue renewing any current subscriptions to these products for existing subscribers. Security updates, product updates, and support for the existing subscribers will also continue. As of now, QuickBooks has not announced plans to discontinue these products. However, it has been our experience that many software providers will eliminate maintenance and updates to software more than two years old.

QuickBooks Enterprises and QuickBooks Online are not affected by these changes. QuickBooks will continue to sell subscriptions as well as renewing subscriptions for existing customers for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprises and QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Enterprises will be the only Desktop software available for new subscribers after July 31, 2024.

As QuickBooks provides technical assistance, security patches, and updates exclusively to active, supported versions, maintaining an active QuickBooks subscription is crucial.

With this change to QuickBooks products, it is a great time to review your current software and future software needs.  The Herbein On Demand Accounting & Advisory Services team would be happy to assist you in reviewing your current accounting software as we have knowledge in multiple software accounting packages.
