Cynthia Tonet-Stewart joined Herbein in 2024.

In her role as Director of Business Development (BD), she collaborates with Herbein’s team to identify new business opportunities firmwide and expand existing client relationships. Cynthia drives profitable revenue generation and fosters strategic partnerships. As a key member of Herbein’s executive leadership team, she plays a pivotal role in developing and executing the firm’s significant strategic growth plans.

With more than 25 years of accounting, legal, consulting, and trade association experience, Cynthia has a distinguished career in professional services business development and marketing, having held leadership roles at prominent firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), McDonald Hopkins, Mackrell International, RGP, Clark Hill, and Thorp Reed & Armstrong. 

Over her extensive career, Cynthia has consistently driven strategic growth, led successful marketing initiatives, and developed robust business development strategies across multiple markets and industries. Prior to joining Herbein, she directed firmwide business development and marketing at McDonald Hopkins where she developed a firmwide business development culture and function, spearheaded events recognized as premier networking opportunities and led a website redesign that won multiple awards. 

Prior to that, she enhanced Mackrell International’s brand and strengthened network relationships and referrals, which led to increased client acquisition efforts for member law firms across the Americas.  Her tenure at Clark Hill and Thorp Reed & Armstrong saw her establish and lead the firms' first business development functions, securing significant new client engagements and driving firmwide strategic planning. During her time at PwC, she played a pivotal role in driving business development, which greatly boosted the growth of the Pittsburgh office. Under her leadership and in collaboration with PwC market leaders, the assurance and business advisory practice rose from third to first place in the market, and the local financial services practice transformed into a leading national entity. 

Outside Herbein, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, the study of Organizational and Strengths Psychology, entertaining family and friends, and any and all beaches.
