November Herbein Hero – Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Herbein is pleased to announce Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) as the November recipient of the Herbein Community Heroes Award.  Established in 1884, MSKCC is the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center.

On November 1, 2015, Stacy Cassler from Wyomissing, Pennsylvania ran the New York City marathon (her first marathon) as part of Fred’s Team to raise money for MSKCC.  Stacy set her personal goal at $6,000 and the $500 award from Herbein went to that total.  Specifically, Stacy directed her collected donations to the Aubrey Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research.  The fund was founded by Aubrey Barr in 1997 after a seven-year battle with childhood cancer. To date, Aubrey has run 27 marathons with Fred’s Team and has collected over $500,000.

Stacy calls her experience running with Fred’s team, “Unforgettable! I ran past Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a bunch of pediatric patients were sitting out cheering for us.  It was the most emotional experience of my life.”  Stacy goes on to say that she hopes her efforts will inspire others to give back as well.

The Herbein team congratulates Stacy on completing her first marathon and wishes Stacy and other supporters of the Aubrey Fund continued success in the battle against pediatric cancer.
