Herbein is pleased to award the February Herbein Community Hero award to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County in the amount of $500.As accountants, Herbein + Company is well-known for helping our clients achieve success. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, PA (BBBS of Berks) is committed to providing the highest quality mentoring services to children of adversity ages 8 to 19 throughout Berks County. Their mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
In 2014, BBBS of Berks provided about 14,600 mentoring program service hours to 210 children. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, “over the past five years, we have had a 99% high school graduation rate, 99% grade advancement rate, and less than a 1% teenage pregnancy issues rate.” In June 2014, the agency was named a Big Brothers Big Sisters of America GOLD STANDARD agency (one of only 13 agencies out of about 350 in the country).
The Herbein Heroes award money will help fund four (4) current mentoring programs serving our Little Brothers and Little Sisters.
