Meet Erin - 2017 Tax Intern
Hi Everyone! My name is Erin Horst and I am a tax intern at Herbein + Company.
I was born and raised in Bowmansville, PA. I graduated from Garden Spot High School in 2014. I am currently attending Alvernia University as an accounting major and I will be graduating in December 2017. One more semester and I will be done! As a freshman at Alvernia, I got involved with their Phi Beta Lambda chapter and had a lot of fun getting to know other students. Now, I am the president and have been doing my best to help other business and communication majors to grow both as a student and as a professional. I am also involved with the Alvernia Band where I play the saxophone, something I love to do and have done since third grade.
As I got further into my education and closer to my graduation date, I knew needed to get some experience in the accounting field. I applied to different internships, but the one I was really hoping to get was right here! I really enjoyed my Federal Taxation class because everything was like a puzzle, learning which forms to use and when to apply them to the 1040. So as I started at Herbein, I was looking for the experience of a tax season in an encouraging environment. Everything I read, heard and saw about Herbein was perfect. The connections that I had with the firm all said that working here was very rewarding. From the short time that I have been here, I think the best part about Herbein is the culture. Each day is different as I continue to learn new things. I am always encouraged to push myself and grow in my learning and as a professional. Everyone I work with is also willing to answer questions as I learn about the software and get used to the different tax laws.
In my free time, I like staying active and going on new, outdoor adventures. During the summer, I always make time to play tennis. When I need a relaxing day, you would most likely find me with my nose in a good book. I also love to do different craft projects, like trying different crochet patterns or doing a new DIY project. No matter what I do, a good day is a day spent being active, learning about a different world or making something new.
I am very excited to be working as a tax intern at Herbein + Company. I have only been here a couple weeks, but I have enjoyed every second of it and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
