January Herbein Hero - Berks Visiting Nurse Association

Herbein is pleased to award the first of twelve monthly Herbein Community Hero awards to the Berks Visiting Nurse Association (Berks VNA) in the amount of $500.

As accountants, Herbein + Company is well-known for helping our clients achieve success.  As your neighbor, we would like to work with you to recognize and reward those who are focused on making our communities better.

Berks VNA provides home and community-based healthcare with a focus on helping individuals achieve a level of physical and emotional well being and independence without regard for their ability to pay. While they provide care to people of all ages, they have a growing elderly population in Berks County (over 15%) and are seeing an increase in the needs of our senior citizens.

As the only non-profit home care organization in the area, Berks VNA pride themselves on the ability to give back to the community through vaccine clinics, wellness checks, and other health related programs.

Through fundraising and grants, they have provided more than $1.9 million in charitable forgiveness for services.

According to Berks VNA, "this award will support our 2015 Health Care Champion Breakfast, which raises general funds for Berks VNA.  This year, it is honoring our retiring President and CEO Lucille Gough, whom has been with the organization for 43 years.  These funds will help us continue to provide care to those most in need of care in our community."
