Joann Pun - Herbein Intern
A Few New Changes
A few new changes – and one of them includes me blogging from a different spot in the company now! My new desk area actually reminds me a lot of my tax intern spot – so I am adjusting rather quickly and have already gotten settled in (even though it’s only been half an hour). I like to think that I can be rather quick at adjusting, plus I get a new(er) perspective of things from this area, so yay to change!
Okay, so let’s get into the juicier side of things… time to give you an update about the interning process so far (bet you didn’t see that one coming). Anyways, I’ve officially done my first inventory count (I was that spoiled child that never had to do such a thing before) and it was most definitely a new experience for me – I’ve never seen so much swimwear! That reminds me, I was foreshadowed about my upcoming New Year’s Day in which I will be doing inventory counting (possibly starting around midnight). But hey, if that happens, I have one more experience to add to my list – maybe I can even say I counted ice cream with a special astronaut-like suit (or perhaps my mind likes to get a little too creative)!
Additionally, I’ve helped complete internal control testing for a COLLEGE (which I will still be going to!). I don’t know why, but I think there’s something neat about it… it’s almost as if you’re going to audit a store you shop at (if that makes any sense). I was also taken out to lunch by someone in the auditing team that I am with – something that has happened every week so far (isn’t that awesome)? I was told this gives the interns a chance to explore and ask questions about anything (and I like questions – a lot).
Going on a tangent, something also happened near the site that another auditing intern was located at yesterday – it’s her story to tell, so you can read about it in her post. All I will say is wow, who knew this could happen to auditors?! Ahem, maybe it’s about time they had a show about accountants and not just lawyers (just saying…).
So, I think I am going to keep this blog post as it is now (I was going to say short and sweet, but that would have been two hundred words ago) – I will end here! I will keep you all updated, and I was even thinking that my next post might be a little different (hint hint).
